Motorola Q

Does anyone know when the Q firmware upgrade is going to be out and what it will include besides push capability?

The Q specs, as shown here on the "Phone Scoop" forum, indicate the Q has a calculator. But the manual nowhere mentions it, and its nowhere to be found when I search the Q's menus. Where is this alleged calculator?

Why do the specs (such as on this forum), claim the Q has 64 megs of memory, but the Q itself under "system tools" / "memory manager" reports 49 megs of "Device Storage" and 52 megs of "Ram storage"? Without any extra memory (my miniSD slot is empty), my memory manager reports:

I've found my Q is flaky about establishing its "headset" profile. For example, if I was in "headset" profile, and then I select the "normal" profile - I am then no longer able to return to "headset" profile. Even after explicitly re-selecting "headset," my request is simply ignored. I have to power off the headset, and power it back on. And sometimes that doesn't even work. Sometimes I have to reboot the phone before it is willing to re-establish the headset profile. Is there a fix for this?

I just got my Q, and found the USB PC syncing went just fine (for contacts), except that it doesn't syncronize my "favorites." Anyone else have this problem?

Has anyone encountered these issues, this is my 2nd Q with the same issues:

about every couple days, the Q won't power on after being idle. The battery has a good charge, the phone won't ring when receiving calles either. The only way to power back on is to remove batter and put back in.

also on a different issue: ... even though it shows good EVDO signal strength, I can't send or receive data, and i can't make any voice calls. The only way to solve this is to power off and then on again. I've had these same issues with 2 Q's so far.

Master reset didn't seem to help.


Any suggestions.

Has anyone tried the Bluetake i-phono mini stereo bluetooth headset yet?

It has received good reviews, but I'm kind of sceptical on reviewers' opinions.

I’d like to get a Q with my v710 settlement exchange but because I don’t want the data plan ill have to pay in the $300’s. I paid $320 for my v710 at Radio Shack when it first came out, but I do not have the receipt, which I need to get $320 for the Q.

I bought my v710 at radio shack on the very first day they received them in late July of ’04. They got a shipment in of 3 phones and I purchased one of them for $320 in cash. Radio Shack keeps records of all transactions for 5 years, so I should be able to get a copy of my receipt.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, MarkSpace.com just released Missing Sync v2.5. v2.5 is compatible with WM5 and will sync your information to iCal, Address Book and even Entourage if you use that as your PIM.

Is it possible to delete my hotmail account portal i created on my Q & start over. The problem im running into is i need to change the time intervals in which it updates my mail. I wold like to extend it from the current 15min. If the intervals can be changed w/o deleting the account and starting over... that would help also. Thanks

Long time lurker, first time poster. I use my Q at work to access a secured website, which I had no problem accessing in the past. But a few days ago a message popped up before the login sceen that said "Information you exchange on this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, the name, date, or issuing authority for the sites security certificate is invalid. Do you want to proceed. Yes/No." When I login, a message reads "Could not login, please try again later." Could this be a security issue with my Q or should I contact the website. I friend who uses another pda has no problems. Any type of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

is there any way to make the caller id picture bigger?

Is there a way to do this on the Q? I know on my VX6700 there was, but I can't seem to find a "mark all read" here and would appreciate if someone knows how, or if it can be done.

I know you all saw the video when the ceo of moto came out and he expected the launch "next week" and he had a black Q. When is that version coming out and what other colors are they going to have?

I just noticed that McAfee is marketing a security suite specifically made for the Q. I see the reason why it is necessary, but shouldn't VZW provide the software for free to their data plan subscribers the same way Verizon Online and other internet providers do?

May be going from a Blackberry + Motorola e815 to a single Q device in a couple of weeks.

Any way to tell if a model is truly "1st generation" or later? Any word on an updated version (black?) coming out in the near future?

I was looking at my bill, and saw that there are 7 txt messages...but we dont use text. I was told that when the phone is alerted to active sync (or something like that) you get a text? Is this true? I am utterly confused at how we are getting texts without using text...
